  1. Bleedin’ Eck OZ,

Give this post a title will ya? I had the divils job of getting into it so’s I could post this. 🙂

Happy Birthday o lupinous one. I shall raise the cheeky bottle of Old Speckled Hen currently chilling in my fridge, this evening and toast your good health and cheer.

  2. Oops! Stupid wolf. 😦 Title duly added.

According to legend, if it rains where you are on St.Swithin’s Day it’ll rain for forty days and forty nights.

  3. Have a dry/ wet one, OZ, as you prefer! “Oh, it might as well rain until September…..” tumtetum. 🙂

  4. Thank you all for your kind wishes and especially those who went to the trouble of finding wolfey songs and cards. 32º in the shade here and clear blue overhead, so I don’t think St Swithin is going to have much luck.

Little brother arrives later this evening and is staying for the weekend. We will probably (!) have one or two cold ones to celebrate.

  5. Happy birthday, OZ. FYI, it peed with rain today around these here parts!

  6. Late to the party, OZ, but happy birthday to you.

And, because my own wedding anniversary fell a couple of days ago and I’m still lucky enough to be able to celebrate it, I think that I may understand the sigh, remembering your MyT posts from the past.

I am sure that it can’t be any easier as the years go by. But enjoy the birthday and treasure those many happy memories that you must have.

  7. Evenin’ JM – Now there’s a coincidence! Little brother and I are late back from the party. 🙂 Thanks for your thoughts and thank you too to Feeg, Brandwood, Boadicea, Christopher and LW (please give your kid brother my best for a great day) for your kind wishes.

  8. Hi OZ, belated Birthday wishes. I will be out tonight having some beers with a younger brother and listening to some jazz in the open air. Have a great weekend.

  9. Hiya Ferret,

Well I’m around, a faithful reader of this place. Just reading and making no trouble. 🙂

I’m glad you enjoyed your stay in Turkey. I hope you liked Iskender. 🙂

  10. I had a brilliant time thanks. The Iskender was excellent and Adana too. The people were very friendly and the hotel was top notch.

  11. PapaG – Have a great night. We’re going down to The Bar for a few chilly ones this evening provided younger brother has recovered from lunch. No stamina these youngsters. He’s been crashed out on a sun lounger for the past half hour and the vital signs are not good.

Jaime – Better belated than never. Thank you for your thoughts even though lobito is ‘otter’ in Spanish and nothing to do with anything lupine. 🙂

Levent – Great to hear from you again. I love those Turkish translations. Don’t be a stranger here as our transtlantic cousins are wont to say, although I must admit I’m doing much the same on MyT, looking and reading but very rarely commenting.

Toc – I have read Bravo’s blog. You are excused parade for having been on active service against the bogtrotting clod. 🙂

    Yoo hoo, Bilby! Hiya!

  12. Sounds like the younger brother needs a sunshade and a strong coffee to revive him

  13. Pseu – By the look of him he needs connnecting to the National Grid. I dunno, some people never learn. He’s been here many times before and just ‘cos we habitually hit his weekly recommended intake of units some time during lunch on Day 1 he goes all swooningly Jane Austen like his stays need loosening.

  14. Hi, OZ. A dip in the pool is a great reviver. Have a good evening, you two. 🙂

  15. Good thinking, Bilby. This is exactly what I like about this site -you can learn so much from other peoples’ experiences. Therefore I’ve just chucked him in for a reviving dip as I have to get him functioning and compus mentis really quickly.

We have a quiet session at The Bar tonight, lunch at a gem (no tourists!) of a rustic restaurant way up in the hills tomorrow and then I’ve invited ten for a ‘Farewell to Brother’ lunch here on Sunday. Finally we’ll have a quiet barbie together at The Cave before I pour him onto his plane on Monday evening.

  16. A nice life in your part of the world, OZ; I just hope your brother survives it. 😉

  17. He’ll be fine, Bilby – either that or peg out in the attempt. 🙂

    See you later.

  18. Jaime – I see you were trying to do the affectionate diminutive of lobo, wolf, but neither the Spanish lobito nor the Portuguese equivalent lobinho actually works in this context. It was a nice thought, nontheless, for which I am grateful and you still write much better poetry than wot I does. 🙂

  19. My Spanish is strictly California Spanglish, the result of being a third generation mixed ethnic mishmash. Every once in a while I think I should improve it but then I lapse into linguistic lethargy.
