I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road.
Stephen Hawking
Instinct and all that 😉
The summer is turning into a scorcher innit, I hope you sleep cool Mr Zen, night night.
Ah, but Val, why do we need instinct if everything is predetermined? 🙂
Perhaps all things aren’t predetermined Feeg, which is why our instinct kicks in, better than getting knocked over too 🙂
“Predestination was doomed from the start”
I dislike this man intensely.
Ever since he came out with the statement “I am the cleverest man ever to have lived,”
Horrible person.
Not the easiest to get on with, maybe, but he’s had a lot on his plate.
It’s a case of hate the disease, not the man. His brilliance should not be underestimated and maybe his suffering excuses his social failings and apparent arrogance.
Well said Janus
“If aliens ever visit us, I think the outcome would be much as when Christopher Columbus first landed in America, which didn’t turn out very well for the Native Americans.” SH
LOL Love it, Pseu.
Aye weel. I’m with Janus, Zen and ‘Lucky Boy’ Soutie here. A great mind.
But I could never quite completely disassociate myself from Frankie Boyle’s comment about SH on ‘Mock the Week’. I paraphrase but it was along the lines of:-
Stephen Hawkins? What use is he? All he does is sit around on his arse all day and pontificate.
Sorry! It’s a Jock thing. I’ll get my coat.
JM:
I get most Scots humour and I think the likes of the Big Yin are hilarious. Frankie Boyle, however, I find about as funny as suppurating piles.
FEEG, fair enough.
The trouble is, and I admit that it’s a national failing, most of us Jocks find suppurating piles to be excruciatingly funny, unless they are our own. It’s a worry.
What would you rather be, hyper intelligent and completely dependant on others for everything… or average and completely independent?
He’s pretty amazing, not allowing his physical state to stultify his mental acumen. Most folk, I feel would become depressed and apathetic.
I think he’s allowed to say, “I am the cleverest man ever to have lived,” if indeed he did and it wasn’t journalistic hyperbole.
‘suppurating piles’… now there’s a topic for discussion and dissection…..
