Off line

A short note to advise that my connectivity is somewhat restricted at the moment and probably will be for the next 6 or 7 days.

The SEACOM cable serving a lot of us down here is broken somewhere between Mombasa and Mumbai.

It appears that whatever alternative routes our providers are finding are somewhat erratic and at odd times.

So, if a fail to pick up the odd approval or edit forgive me, I’m not ignoring you (but then again in some cases I might be 😉 )

  1. “….somewhere between Mombasa and Mumbai.” Oh, well that narrows it down nicely. Really, some people make the feeblest of excuses. 🙂

  2. Missing you already. 🙂

If this is just a feeble excuse for not writing a short story, it will not wash, Soutie.

  3. Oz, that’s why I provided the link, dunno how deep it is there but once they find the break they have to get a repair crew over it!

Ha ha Ara, well I’m still connected (at the moment), I’ve been told that we’re using spare business capacity so with a bit of luck might be ‘up’ outside of business hours.

  4. My connectivity is also extremely limited – BT have been ‘fixing’ the problem since Sunday, and still the connection is intermittent. So apologies from me too… 🙂

  5. I have no idea Janus, and I suspect that BT don’t either. They have checked out the lines, replaced cables in exchanges and are coming (finally) to check the broadband set-up in the flat today. It has been working wonderfully since I arrived and has just ‘stopped’. I’m struggling on a T-Mobile dongle at the moment, but that is temperamental and only seems to work when the wind is in the right direction – somewhat akin to my mobile…

  6. Oh dear, Boa. A bit like being cast adrift in an open boat, I should think. May I wish you afair wind. 🙂

  7. I place the blame with the Somali Pirates who have cut the African cable. They are holding the community to ransom.
