Chris – Congratulations, the better team won the day, an awesome team, plenty of speed, skill and overall better performers. 🙂
I am happy with the result, even though Germany faces Argieland next and will probably be eliminated.
Chris – I doubt it, the German team has height and speed on their side, Argentina doesn’t, there is also the “Arrogance” factor, Argentina has it and it will work against them (I hope)
Also, did you see the Argentina-Korea Republic game? Argentina didn’t look too good.
I hope so, IS, I hope so… What you have to understand is that Germany is really not that good at winning things. Germany will do well but then not make it to the end.
Chris – The whistle is the “great equalizer”, all nations are equal under the referee 🙂
Now, what nation was one of them refs from? (You owe me one) 🙂
I think Mexico have a change of beating Argentina. BBC coverage of England’s game was followed on TV by the Antiques Roadshow. Same thing innit!
Antiques? – what a way to follow the end of the game 🙂
Germany also took vengeance for the 5-1 defeat in Munich, adding two counter-attacking goals in the second half to leave England humbled. For all the righteous English anger about the officials’ error, they were outclassed by Germany.
Not much to argue with there.
Agh, shut up. 😦
I wonder if any of the England team will man up, as I understand the current vernacular has it, and say, ‘We had our balls cut of and handed to us,’ or, will we hear endless whining about the goal that never was? Hmmm, I wonder.
I know that ref well, he said (as I gave him the pay-off money)
THE MALVINAS BELONG TO ARGENTINA
Now don’t push your luck, Mr IS. We shouldn’t forget that Argentina rightfully belongs to Spain and Uruguay to the Viceroyalty of Brazil. What I do not understand is why they don’t just have a referendum in the Islas Falklands and ask them what they would prefer.
Without wishing to stir the pot, that’s like asking White Americans in Hawaii or White Australians in Australia to have a referendum on who owns the place. They have no real say in the matter, they are only there by force of arms until and “if” the rightful owners are strong enough to throw them out. 🙂
It’s the same with England and the World Cup, they thought they owned it but ……. sure enough…. they got nuked 🙂
By the way, should Germany beat Uruguay (unlikely 🙂 then you are forgiven in advance for any gloating you might do.

Sorry, mate, the British were in the Falklands before the Argentines were in Patagonia.
The Argentines also fought a brutal war complete with genocide in their conquest of Patagonia.
The Falklands were Terra Nullis. We could always, however, come up with a compromise… We could always give Argentina to Brazil…
The Brazilians wouldn’t have them, Uruguay don’t want them either, guess they’ll have to fight for the islands all on their own. Personally I don’t care, I already own my own island. 🙂
The most likely thing that will happen is that the Argentinian president will stamp her feet and make a big fuss until she is voted out of office at the next general election (which is likely the case based on the amount of people supporting her) and then the issues will fade into the background again. You are lucky on your little island. I will not go to my eastern island home until next. year. (Eastern island home — Honshu, Japan. Western island home — Great Britain)
I do have a question , if the Falklands were Terra Nullis, how come Uruguayans were there in 1811 before their own independence? Not that it matters but it is a fact.
There were no Uruguayans in 1811, they were linguistically confused Brasileiros! Well, in that case I am wrong and will admit to it — give the islands to Uruguay!
Oh no, I really do own a island, it’s only a little one but I own it, it’s called Tasmania, Princess Mary didn’t want it so I took it as my own, not a single original inhabitant to challenge me 🙂
Catch you later mate, I have to go and do some yard work for a change.

Okey, mate… But again, don’t push your luck too hard… The ancient inhabitants of Australia, the snakes and spiders, might decide that you look tasty…

Why, it’s that lovely country Uruguay! I always did have a feeling that it was a wonderful country with lovely people…
Okey, I will be quiet from now on.

At last a note of realism! I still hate football.
