  1. Quite right Indy

I thought that Uruguay were a bit foolish to sit back after their first goal and so it proved. The second was a beauty and that Diego Forlan would be in the running for player of the tournament if they had one, he’s a pleasure to watch.

  2. Uruguay has never been any good at playing in the rain but at least they won. Mind you if they continue to play in the manner they did today they’ll never win the cup.

  3. Indy

USA v Slovenia is an old match, USA play Ghana later tonight 7.30 GMT to see who goes forward to play Uruguay, I know it’s late where you are but wake up! get with the programme!
    😉

  4. Crickey – Someone got it wrong (obviously me) I thought this was a knockout game, thanks for the heads up, now I can take a coffee break, I been glued to the Tele most of the night 😦

  5. This is what I call a space saving blog

    COME ON USA!!!!!!!!! 🙂

  6. Not only that, the Septics have lost 2-1 in extra time and are on the first flight back to Southern Canada, as we like to refer to that bit of real estate between the Niagara Falls and Mexico.

    OZ

  7. It must be absolute chaos in the bars of central Port Elizabeth tonight, an African victory, an African team into the quarter-finals of this the first African World Cup.

Ghana will have almost home team support at the 90,000 seater Soccer City up in Joburg, it will be very tough for Uruguay.

  8. If you look at the teams that are left it’s almost a South American victory already. 🙂

Personally I think it will be an Argentinian or Portuguese victory, both teams are playing very well; Brazil aren’t worth a cracker at the moment.

Tough luck for the USA; Ghana was all over them. They deserved their win 🙂

  9. The best dive of the WC so far – by Artidore, USA! Otherwise it was a clean if insipid affair. Ghana’s skill-set is exceptional but their tactics dodgy.

  10. IS, Portugal were even more violent than Brazil and their ‘stars’ looked less than shiny.

  11. I’ll bet $1 Dollar that Portugal wins the cup, failing that then it will go to Argentina. But Chris is right, those who would call Maradona “A God” need to be chopped down in their prime. 🙂
