I wonder how many will try to follow.
However, whilst the Washington Post and the NYT are free(ish) and the DT, one wonders if they are pissing up a rope.
I can think of better ways of spending 50 quid!
They charge well over two pounds per copy (something I have never, ever paid) out here without any of the usual freebies and supplements avilable elsewhere, and now they want to charge to read it online as well?? Personally, I do not think my life will be adversely affected without the input of the young journalists at The Times, nor indeed of those at the DT.
Although, as I have mentioned previously, there is much pleasure to be gained on a Sunday morning from brewing a pot of coffee and perusing from cover to cover a crisp edition of one of the broadsheets on the terrace, I CAN LIVE WITHOUT IT,GUYS!!!! Even online my contact with MyT is minimal and reducing and I have none at all any more with The Times nor with any other proper newspaper. Beyond that, suffice it to say that the Guardian and Daily Mirror no longer respond either.
I’m confused.
If this post is about the Times charging then I covered this yesterday, but perhaps you missed it.
Araminta, Ma’am. In my defence I made five comments on your post yesterday 🙂
OZ
I know, Oz, and it was much appreciated, but my comment was addressed to Bravo.
I just feel he was making some other point, but I don’t know; hence my confusion.
Oh, yes, I see.
I did not address it to Bravo, so I can see what you mean, Oz.
Nope, the post was about the fallen – but tried to take on a life of its own, as these things often do.
Erm all I get is a Times front page about Murray winning a match and Cambuffoon and Chicken George sharing a few beers. What am I missing here?

Try going any further and you get asked to sign up! I won’t be, that’s for sure.
I might actually pay for this site. Since I spend so much of my time in places where you don’t get the UK papers, this site actually looks like a good second-best. I like this app:
It’s a view of the papers exactly as printed. Even has a cutesy little page-turning thingy – as I said, maybe a good second-best.

Should be this, with obits for each one:
