Ah, there’s one small difference Indy, we have no regrets!
I certainly didn’t expect Bafana to progress, they made us proud in the last game and went out with a bang, finishing with the same points as Mexico (who we all but beat) but an inferior goal difference.
We also have the legacy of the infrastructure, stadiums, airports, roads, bridges, public transport, hotels, the list is endless.
Not to mention the tournament itself, a month long party, new friendships and of course the boost to the economy.
All in all a magnificent event so far, no regrets here 😉
Hopefully this will be a much-needed boost to South Africa. It would be a shame if it didn’t eventually turn a corner.
I rather think the Ozzies won’t be too surprised – football is not the ‘main’ game, although its popularity is rising.
