As I write this blog Australia is losing 4-0 against Germany, they are playing so bad they are making Germany look like the team of the century.

Calm down, IS. It’s only a game. Mind, I’m a bit annoyed as well. I had Germany to win 3-0 in the office sweep and the Huns have blown that.
Anyhow, it’ll be good practice for you to lose gracefully since you’ll be doing it again when the Ashes series comes along. If you want any tips on how to lose with equanimity, please feel free to ask. We Scots are skilled in the art – we have lots of experience.

The sad thing is that the German government and media have been so negative about the levels of crime in South Africa that very few Germans have come over for the tournament. Or at least that is the reason we have been given for the relatively low German turnout. Sure there is crime here, but what is a bit of gentle mugging between friends? A cell phone or camera, or even a few hundred Euros going missing, is hardly reason to stay away. Bunch of wusses, those Germans.
I have a soft spot for the “bad boy from Adelaide”, Bearsy. He’s now married and settled down, isn’t he? I’ve supported quite a few Aussie tennis players over the years, like MacNamara and MacNamee and the Woodies of course.
I feel very sorry for the people of Germany and Spain at the moment with all the problems with the eurozone, so I think it would boost moral considerably if one of those two could win the World Cup. And I don’t need to be told that that is no way to judge football.
