I have to admit the opening didn’t particularly grab my attention but unlike the displays of utter vulgarity that are the modern Olympics, it was short, sharp and tasteful.
Indeed, London 2012 take note.
Inspite of my enthusiasm, I have to say the South Africans look a bit clueless in there – Mexico look as if they’re in a training game.
Whoo hoo, the ‘Boks go one up!
1 – 1, the final score
Now, let’s all gather round the idiot box and cheer Uraguay on 😀
Bravo
You have no idea how proud we are.
They said we couldn’t do it!
Germany (the last hosts) were penciled in as an alternative, Some said Australia (they had just done the Olympics)
We showed them today, we’ll show then tomorrow and we’ll keep on showing them ’till July.
I am so f***ing happy and proud you have no idea.
GO BAFANA BAFANA !
😀
“C’est magnifique, mais ce n’est pas la guerre
Not quite!
Well I was going to mention the Millennium Stadium, choirs, bands, an odd-shaped ball. two teams with fire in their bellies and the hopes and fears of nearly 76,000 emotional fans but actually, even I have to agree that this World Cup, where it is, is a bit special. 😉
janh1, apart from the vuvuthingywhatsit racket!
Morning all, it’s wall to wall rugby today starting in just over an hour, our game v France starts 2 o’clock, from Newlands.
I’m happy however to give football equal billing for the next month or so, living in a host city, meeting some of the thousands and thousands of foreign visitors and enjoying the 24/7 party atmosphere that is apparent on almost every street corner is going to be fun! 😉
