Mario Lanza was amongst the best at the time, and with his distinctive voice, he was very much a man of his time, A bit of a heart throb too if I recall, I can remember my Mother saying how many times she went to see him, possibly because of his handsome looks more than his voice.

I forgot to add something. Whenever I heard Harry Secombe, some notes he held were a little Mario Lanza. When he wasn’t being a goon, Harry was a wonderful singer.
