I need a VERY stiff drink. John “Who ate all the pies” Prescott, has been made a peer in the Dissolution Honours List! It seems that reform of the House of Lords cannot come soon enough! I cannot imagine anyone ELECTING him and the likes of some of the other dross in the list to such heights, and if it becomes an elected house, then all existing Lords presumably have to re-apply for election!
Oh double yuck.
Well, I think they should have left the House of Lords alone and this would never had happened.
Was that the Dissolute Dishonour List?
I completely agree with you, Araminta. Most of the peers in the former House of Lords had a sense of duty to the country and were not the stooges of one party or another. John Prescott and Floella Benjamin – can you believe it?
Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn’t Prescott one of the people who was 120% against the House of Lords?
FEEG, hear, hear! I was just going to post a similar rant when I saw this. The present Peers should be called the Union of Unprincipled Upstarts. Kinnock and now Prescott who opposed the Lords. The crook Archer. The sacked copper Blair is there too with a fat payoff. And unfortunately they’ll still be there after the reforms, thanks to the ‘grandfather’ clause.
Floella didn’t just appear in Playschool. She also starred in Plays Away alongside stars such as Keith Woodhams, Lionel Morton and David Arthur.
“Others in the Dissolution Honours are ex-police chief Sir Ian Blair, Helen Newlove, whose husband Garry was killed in 2007, and TV’s Floella Benjamin.” – ‘Play Away’ star Floella is an impressive woman who has done much with her life since Play time.
She has also had a career in panto, for example starring as Tiger Lilly inPeter Pan, (Epsom, Christmas ’94).
And who can forget her role as presenter in Hey Diddle Diddle and MAMMA MIRABELLE’S HOME MOVIES?
Time does not allow a full consideration of her appearances on TV shows such as:
GIVE US A CLUE, ALL STAR RECORD BREAKERS XMAS SHOWS, SQUARE ONE, PUNCHLINES, PAUL DANIELS MAGIC SHOW, IT’S A KNOCKOUT CHRISTMAS SPECIAL, SATURDAY SUPERSTORE, TV-AM WIDE AWAKE CLUB, MONKEY BUSINESS, BBC BREAKFAST TIME, CELEBRITY SQUARES, FAMILY FORTUNES and my personal favourite- BLANKETY BLANK.
I wouldn’t mind if our dear friend Prezza hadn’t gone on at great length about how he despised such “flunkery”.
Incidentally, as this is my first comment on here, I’d be grateful if my status could be updated to author.
