I’m planning to sing this as one of my party pieces at my leaving do here in Moscow. I was searching for the song on Youtube and found this. Cute, aren’t they? (I’m actually using this video to help me rehearse, get the phrasing and breathing right etc – their enunciation is very clear for two such young girls.)
That is lovely!
Are you off elsewhere?
End of contract?
Which bit of globe to trot next then?
Such (precocious) confidence!
Christina, yep, end of contract. As the saying goes, my job here is done. Next stop Bucharest, after spending July in Cyprus teaching my grandchildren to swim. I was in Bucharest last week, some pics here if you’re interested:

Pseu, I know – quite amazing aren’t they?
Yes I looked at them before too, interesting architecture, what common language will you all speak?
do you get sad at leaving places or are you always glad to move on?
The only place I ever get sad to leave is Wales!
Sad, glad, a place, after all, is just a place – leaving people is more difficult 🙂 I always look forward to new places, new things to see, new people to meet, new things to learn – I’m sure I won’t find Romanian as difficult to learn as Russian has been. I guess I’ll get fed up with it eventually, but not yet 🙂
Bravo, leaving? Did I miss something? When, where to, etc?
Janus, leaving Moscow. My contract here ends on the 30th of June. I’m going to spend July in Cyprus teaching my grandchildren to swim, then it’s off to Bucharest on 1 August for my next job. It’s back to the front line for me – after 18 months re-organising the security department here, training the new managers, mentoring a local replacement for 6 months and re-writing policies and procedures, I’m going back to trying to catch, or, rather, ‘encouraging’ the local authorities to catch, the smugglers and the counterfeiters. Much more fun 🙂
Tina, The common language is always English.
PS. I’ll still have to do the management stuff, but it will be a lot less work there – the team already know me and what I expect of them from my previous time in the Area.
