Better than Australia’s I would say, given that Oz is in a ‘group of death’.
Brendano – You are right, the first rounds will probably be the toughest of the entire competition. But I can see Australia beating Serbia and Ghana, the big surprise will be when they trash Germany, which I think they will. 🙂
I wouldn’t be surprised if Serbia and Ghana got out of the group. Germany have over-achieved in the last couple of World Cups, imho.
Germany have always been what I call “Stiff Legged” kickers, they’ve always rushed in like bullies trampling everything in front of them. Trouble is Australia learnt not be Gentlemen in the last world cup and they play a most unusual kind of game based on toughness. They should do well, I can honestly tell you that they are better than most people imagine. Can’t wait for the first game 🙂
I’m lucky, Uruguay is also playing, I can barrack for both of them 🙂

We have no aspirations, if we get through to the last 16 you’ll see the best party here since 1999. Think Wimbledon, The Oz open, you don’t need a home side winner to have a good time, we’re going to have a ball!
Wish that you were here to enjoy it with us 🙂
Soutie – South Africa must change its attitude or it will never win the cup, having no aspirations except to represent one’s country is all about the Olympics, not the World Cup, don’t forget the cup is not for the countries, it is for the people and the players. 😦
As an example, during the last World Cup qualifier in Uruguay against Australia, the citizens spent the night outside the Australian HQ banging on drums, tins and pots to ensure the Aussies got no sleep, then when they came out to head for the game they had to run the gauntlet of citizens all the way to the stadium.
You guys should get into the same spirit, perhaps by accidentally leaving a lion in their HQ or perhaps the odd mercenary bullet flying above their heads to scare them off.
All in the spirit of fairness and competition, of course, murder is not allowed but accidents do happen, a South African mob “accidentally” running past and stomping on the opposition’s legs should not be out of the question. 🙂
