Stupid Question Time

Dear Angel aka Bearsy or BASM,

Please have another cup of tea before you read this post!

It’s just that I have perfected the Slideshow thingy, but I cannot work out how to copy it from my blog to here.

I will, of course, not be offended by your “sigh” and “humphs” and etc, but I remain hopeful that you will not feel it necessary to banish me from this site.

Yours in fearful anticiption,

Araminta

The simple answer is that you can’t copy the slideshow. You have to redo the whole thing here – and it’s still not possible to use pictures from your blogsite – you have to put them into the media on this site.

WordPress still seem to be working on the slideshow bit, hopefully at some point they will get around to making it possible to use pictures from another site.

  2. Morning Australia!

Phew; well I had a feeling that was the case, Boadicea, but needed confirmation. Many thanks for this. It seems illogical to me, but perhaps they can sort it out at some point.

I’ll stop trying to do the impossible now! 🙂

  3. Every time Bearsy looks ‘behind the scenes’ at the slide show thingy there are changes. Yesterday he was playing around with it (as you can see it now has a white background and navy lettering) and he swears that the code was changing from one experiment to the next. It would also seems that there will be a facility for changing the way the images are presented – e.g. page turning.

I think it’s a fairly new facility anyway – i.e. since after this site opened – but don’t quote me on that one!

  4. I will await developments, Boadicea and thank goodness Bearsy understands what this is all about. 🙂
Oops, well I’m sure you are learning too, but it’s all a bit er.. technical. 🙂

  5. Hi Araminta,

WordPress is great, and they are very responsive to users’ questions, and infinitely more competent than OneShite … but

They rush into things with great enthusiasm without fully thinking them through and without adequate testing. Boa is quite right, you have to redo the whole thing with images in the ‘local’ Media Library. Doh!

They do appear to have cured the loading problem within the last 24 hours, let’s keep our fingers crossed. I have a couple of ongoing issues with them right now, and I’m just about to add a third, but I generally don’t mention them here to “my users”. I like to shield them from the worst of the techo stuff. 🙂

  6. Hi Bearsy:

Just noticed this. Thank you. I suspect we are probably best left in ignorance but I am interested in the ones I can understand.

I’m relieved to hear that WordPress are responsive but let us face facts here; OneSite are utterly hopeless.
