And about time too!
Is it today that most on here have to run around resetting clocks on walls and appliances?
Would you believe that I have never had to reset a timepiece in my life? Except of course on overseas travel, (I remember traveling what appeared to be due south on the Eurostar and having to adjust my watch by an hour, seemed silly at the time.)
I for one am pleased that you are all an hour closer, I do enjoy watching the midweek sports matches but invariably fall asleep during the latter stages.
There is no doubt in my mind that changing clocks is something that we should consider down here, besides the fact that we are heading for a capacity problem with our power stations so many of our rural homes have no electricity at all, children having to study by candlelight would find an extra hour of daylight a blessing.
Queensland doesn’t change.
It’s a bitter political debate here. Most city dwellers and all the sensible people want us to change in line with NSW, but the farmers say that the cows won’t give milk, the crops will dry out and they’ll lose billions. The farmers have the strongest lobby, so we have over-light mornings (light at 4:30 am) and most people can’t get the grass cut in the evenings, ‘cos it dark by 5:30 pm.
Perhaps we’ll grow up one day! 🙂
Soutie and Bearsy, g’morgen! I trust that BST finds you both well?
In fact it is almost the end of GMT as we know it. Why? Because we have to adapt to European time, although the gubmint won’t admit it. They are still banging on about extra daylight but WE KNOW it’s a directive from Brussels/Berlin.
If JM is reading this, he’ll know that it’s the Scots who have always prevented this inevitable change to EUtime. But now they are more or less independent (joke), who cares?
Yes, Soutie: I’m about to do just that! Back in a couple of hours! Only joking but it does take a while; it’s the appliances!
This is an interesting place.
Over three miles of corridors and a thousand rooms. There was an old boy employed there whose job in life was to keep the place ticking over. When the clocks changed, he would start after working hours on Friday and by Monday morning, hey presto they were all changed. Talk about Old Father Time!
That’s the Old Bailey!
The Royal Courts of Justice in the Strand.
It’s Summer Time here in Mosocw, too, though the remnants of the snow are still on the ground. Still, it’s brightening up – temperature actually climbed painfully into double figures today.
