Predicted Upsurge in Small Sofa Sales

The prediction has just been announced from Oldmovie Towers in the past few minutes, so if you move quickly into the realms of companies listed on the stock market who make small sofas, you could make a killing.

Now as a rule I do not spend an inordinate amount of time pondering the success or otherwise of companies who make small sofas but about an hour ago I had what could only be described as a ‘Eureka’ moment and, making sure that this blog would not cause the futures market in small sofas to be totally skewed in a rush to buy from WordPress investors, I have been blistering the lines to various brokers who specialise in buying shares in small sofa manufacturing conglomerates, so I’m ok. Now I think it only fair to divulge what has caused this mild but significant panic in the small sofa share market. And here it is

Yes, It’s the Apple iPad, the next BIG thing to hit the ‘must have’, ‘must buy’, ‘must use’ world. It occurs to me that most folk, me included, will use this device while watching the box or relaxing and listening to music or just plain chillin’, I call it ‘knee padding’  and the best position to adopt when using the iPad is leaning back with your back supported and with your knees bent and supported by your feet pushing against a bolster so that your thighs form a natural resting place for your iPad. Now look at the picture of the small sofa at the top and with this blog very much in mind you will see why I think it’s boom time for small sofas. So get in quick because I see an even brighter future for the first designer who comes up with a specifically designed piece of furniture for the iPad, the iSofa, it can’t be to far away and you saw it here first.

  1. I can’t help feeling that this is all the wrong way round, OMG. Whilst I feel the need to have a sofa, I cannot believe my life would be incomplete without an Apple Anything.

Call me a dinosaur if you must, but I not convinced. Maybe I’m not yer typical target audience; I have yet to see the point of owning a Television! 😉

  2. Hello OMG

I’ve inserted a ‘more’ function (page break) for you. If you have a look at the front page the ‘more’ function reduces whats visible and encourages the reader to open the blog and perhaps leave a comment.

If you edit your post, you will be able to see what I’ve done, delete it and reinsert it elsewhere if you so wish!

You can learn about the ‘more’ function in the FAQ’s 😉

You wait ’till the ‘talkies’ hit Henley, you will be a ‘techie’, in no time flat.
Cheers Soutie, looks a lot better.

  4. Well, I can’t be prudish, Araminta. I laughed out loud when I first saw it. But, as yo rightly pointed out, this is not appropriate place to put.
I know you don’t do that often, and have a sense of humour. But unfortunately I do stupid things quite often. 🙂

Will you jump straight in and buy it on launch or wait a few months for the MK2 version to come out, you know what Apple are like with new stuff.

  6. OMG,

I’m not sure. I could hang on until about Aug but could really make use of it by early June. Other than battery life, I honestly think the big ‘A’ will have updates on line? What do you think?

  7. Oh bother. I always turn up when the action’s over. What’ve I missed then? What was so bad it had to go?! Come on; spill, please… 😉

I think a self facing camera for viddy chat and although no Flash player as Steve has come out strongly against it maybe something similar. I also think that some form of non backlit ‘ink’ technology for the e reader may be on the cards, though that is a hell of a long shot. I am somewhat puzzled by the lack of media drive and the lack of update card slots, they could be added later and I agree with you that software will upgrade on line or wirelessly over the 3 or 4g network, I know one thing for sure, the Mac rumour mill will be working overtime.

  9. OMG, you’ve teched me out now…..”non backlit ‘ink’ technology for the e reader….”? Get a life, man.

  10. Morning Janus
How’s the Tivoli Gardens keeping these days, can you tell me when it opens for the season as we may drive up from a Cologne trip for a night or two.

  11. G’morgen, OMG! For your further delight, Tivoli opens again 15 April 2010 for the summer season. Tivoli normally opens the gates at 11.00. Closing time varies according to weekday and season. If you take the Puttgarten – Rødby ferry route from Germany (far fewer miles to Copenhagen) you will pass within half a mile of our house.

  12. Janus
Never considered the ferry, does it save a lot of time, reason for trip is to test out the new Merc which has been playing up a bit.

  13. OMG

Hope you don’t mind, I’ve phaffed around with your pictures and ended up with a presentation that I would be happy with.

I (or you) can always change it back, it’s dead easy, simply click on ‘Align left’ and your text wraps around, gives it that professional look!

  14. Soutie
No worries, phaff away to your hearts content, it looks a lot better although I think Janus had a crack at the lay out as well so this is turning into a real international effort and why not.
Talking of International my eldest daughter has just introduced us to the delights of video skype calls so we have just had an unexpected video conversation with Mrs Oldmovie’s brother who is in Thailand at the moment, he was jollied up being as it was past midnight and we are thinking of getting ready for our sojourn to the local Chinese later this evening, the wonders of modern science eh, the first thing Mrsoldmovie asked her brother who she has not seen since last October was, ‘this skype thing, it is free isn’t t?

  15. Ha ha

Firstly, there are only 2 people with the ability to mess up your post, that would be me and Bearsy.

I have a wonderful pic of my dad on the computer talking to relatives overseas (he’s 86) every 2nd sentence was ‘who’s paying for this?’

He was on for an hour!

    It’s absolutely great isn’t it?”

  16. Soutie
What a tit I am, it was you of course, not Janus, he kindly gave me information earlier about car ferries between Germany and Denmark, getting confused in my dotage.

  17. I knew that, now please eradicate all evidence of you being a tit (including this comment ;))

  18. “now please eradicate all evidence of you being a tit”

Bloody hell Soutie, how far in my life do you want me to go back? I’ll be here all weekend!

  19. OMG.

Not bovvered about the video or the camera. At the end of the day though, patience = prudence.
