Test cricket commentary

A quick public service announcement.

It’s day 5, England need 209 to win, with 2 sessions of play remaining, I’m currently listening to commentary from BBC Radio 5 available here.

If I can get it others should be able to.

(Tea interval :- England currently need a further 114 to win off  a minimum of 29 overs.)

  1. Works perfectly in Brisbane, thanks.
    All over, an easy finish.

Boadicea would be lost without BBC on-line audio! 😀

  2. Aye, ye have to get up right early these days to avoid getting told the cricket score on DNMyT.

But I had. Made sure, however, when I left for work at the tea interval to set the Evil Empire box to record so I could watch it tonight.

Made doubly sure not to log on to here or any where else while at work so I could watch it in innocence.

As you say, Bearsy, easy. The series was a good workout with a lot of positives. I do think that this young Bangladeshi team could be serious contenders in time, provided that they find some decent pace bowlers somewhere. Perhaps they should try SA for players? Everybody else seems to.

Soutie, never listened to Radio 5 Live (extra) for commentaries. A digital station only and they are still running Test Match Special on Radio 4 Long Wave for UK terrestrials. As good as ever, in my opinion. Is 5 Live (Extra) any good?

Bearsy, severely belated felicitations on your natal day.

  3. Hello John

    Phew!

I’m delighted that I didn’t update the score, I note that you avoided us anyway but perhaps others were grateful!

My choice of Radio 5 is simply one of necessity, the BBC and others more often than not blank out huge swathes of Planet Earth because of ‘licence restrictions’ or similar. I know that Canada has similar problems to me, as does Oz.

Janus has also mentioned that he gets blacked out from a lot of the BBC stuff.

I’ve always preferred radio commentary to the TV lot, I’ll often be found with the TV on but the radio commentary playing, so much more descriptive and I love the trivia and other snippets they give us to fill in the time.

Of course, I grew up without any TV at all so I suppose it’s a case of old habits die hard.
