  1. AH! Yes, just saw that and inwardly rejoiced, Boa…I have one, most nights, although my mother in law says that’s ‘really bad…’ But it’s my moment of sanity, after hte kids have gone down, a bit like coming on here and MyT actually. (Although, come to think of it, MyT is more like my moment of insanity…; )

  2. Wine obviously has many side-effects. All I know is that I like red wine to drink, not as medicine; and Retsina on a hot, sunny afternoon by the stream.

  3. Excellent science news, ta, Boadicea! Not that I thought wine ever did make women fat – anyway, I’d need a far better reason than *that* to give it up!

As we all know, red wine gives you iron, dopamine, pheromones, er serotonin, antioxidants, flavanoids, nano-molecules for youthful skin and all five signs of getting younger. Not sure what white does.

I think it’s only eating lard that actually makes woman fat. Certainly the girls in the office are of one opinion; that chocolate makes you feel happy and slim. 🙂

  4. By the time I get home Mrsoldmovie will have had this enlarged, framed and hung in a prominent place in Oldmovietowers, she will also have had hand bills printed to give out in places that she frequents proclaiming that she is on a ‘Wine Diet’.

  5. Be careful ladies. One glass leads to another. More subliminal advertising from the drinks industry. It’s no good being thin with a shot liver.

  6. I’ve always thought that if I have to partake of one protion of fruit per day, it might as well be grapes and I can’t think of a more convenient way…

  7. I like the quote:
“If these women have a healthy diet and lifestyle and are having one or two units of alcohol a night then that has less calories than someone who instead has a chocolate bar to unwind. It’s a question of “what’s your poison?”

(Amicus would like to point out, I’m sure, that that should be ‘Fewer’ 🙂 )

  8. Never believed it did any harm in the first place!
Bloody doctors talk drivelling crap, one generally does better with a witch doctor and a bag of bones!
I always ignore medical advice, it has kept me a lot healthier and safe over the years especially here.
Bloody surgery place gave me a handful of pills to take before surgery, in case of this that and the other, I refused to take any of them, if one shows the symptoms then one may consider taking medication, not on a just in case basis!

    More wine, less pills!

  9. re #9 and #10 I probably could do with losing weight, but go along with the rest. Though I am eschewing alcohol for Lent and not missing it. Though I do have a v nice bottle of red wine ready for Easter. Finding I’m a lot more aware of being thirsty and drinking lots and lots of water.
