Saturday June 15 – into Manhatten

Finally got a good day for outside, so made a run from  Tom’s River to Manasquan and emerged into the Atlantic at 11:00 am.

Forecast was not great, but this was the best day for the next five.

Uneventful trip up to NYC, low swell and little wind.  We were round Sandy Hook by 3 and under the narrows bridge by 4.

Past an outgoing Holidays from Hell ship

Then past, well no prizes for this one

Finally found a spot at Liberty Harbor Marina, just about opposite Wall Street on the Jersey side.

We are tied up to the fuel dock (closed at 5 pm) and with luck will catch the early tide up the Hudson starting about 7am.

Next stop West Point.

  1. Best trip in NY is the round Manhattan boat trip leaving from the Jersey side pier 83 W 42nd St. Incredibly cheap too by EU/UK standards.
NY is a weird place, one of those places one just loves to hate!
Glad you have made progress LW Do you actually get off the boat there to visit places and friends etc ?

  2. Hello Mrs. O. I did not get off the boat in NYC. The first mate took the trash and found a restaurant next door so we had take out seafood, good too. We called ahead to the Marina, and were told “We close at five, just pull into the fuel dock and look for Alfredo, he’s the security guy, if he does not show up, and on Saturday night he may not, you enjoy a free night in New York.” A good solid New York answer.
So an overnight stay, two tanks of excellent NYC water and a view of the city all free.

  3. I still remember my 1969 round-Manhattan tour boat with commentary by a betrilbied NYer. Excellent introduction to the city and its history.
