How sad and touching, Soutie. I greatly admire such people as Lawrence Anthony (RIP) and applaud his love and care of such a wonderful species. I heard again today about the Mammoth project. Years ago I remember being quite excited about cloning extinct species, but now it angers me, when we can’t even save what we have here and now.
Thanks for the link OZ, he was only 61

You made me look up the Mammoth project, found this article all I can say is they’re nuts!

Bilby, I posted about this recently – reaching the same conclusion as you, I think.
Thanks for the link, Soutie. Sorry you had to search for it. Yes, I agree, absolutely barking. Doesn’t sound very likely though, considering the problems they had with a mouse, frozen for a mere 16 years. “When resurrecting the mouse, more than 1,100 attempted produced just seven healthy clones.”
Soutie – there was an obituary in the DT a few days ago.
Lawrence Anthony
Sounds like a top bloke.
