Clara Adams: The Maiden Of Maiden Voyages

Here’s another slideshow that fascinated me and I thought that I’d share.

Clara Adams is little remembered today but she was well known as a pioneer of commercial aviation during the 1920’s, 30’s, and 40’s

  1. The reference to Colonel Klink in slide 15 intrigued me, it is apparently an attempt at humour by the compiler. After investigation I established that it refers to an American sitcom set at a POW camp during WWII

  2. Fascinating series of photos, Soutie. Thank you. Gives a whole new meaning to “twin-engine”, that Dornier.

  3. Many thanks Soutie. I love being shown bits of history about which I know absolutely nothing!

We would have to re-define ETOPS as “”Extended-range Twelve-engine Operational Performance Standards” :-). What an adventurous lady.
