Death by a thousand cuts

Allegedly Sarko himself is not subject to any such torture. His stratospheric grocery bills and zillion car garage bear witness. But last weekend he had to sit at home while his persecutor, Ms Merkel, arranged a Euro-strategy meeting for AAA-rated members only. A veritable ‘Not-you-Perkins!’ moment! How very dare she?

I do wish there was an English or even French word for Schadenfreude because this summer is going to be filled with it – except in France.

  1. This is dangerous ground. Hell hath no fury like France not getting its way. On the Tellygraff Ambrose Evans-Pritchard wrote an excellent article on the likely changes coming out of Paris when le Petty Nik is sent into post-political oblivion.

  2. There’s an article in “Le Monde” today about all the rich French citizens who are already making preparations to move to more fiscally-friendly places, like Switzerland and the UK. Some of them think that even if Sarkozy does win a second term, France will be in dire need of extra cash and the eurozone is very wobbly.

  3. Low Wattage :

Rick : Sarko did? And here I am thinking he was Polish or something similar.

Lw, g’morgen. Born 1955! His Dad was Hungarian, Mum was Greek Jewish / French – so max. 25% French.
