  2. Ah, dear Brave Monty Mouse!

Get over it, OZ, he’s very quick on his feet and it’s really no disgrace. 🙂

Absolutely stunning clip, Soutie. Amazing photography and such detail.

  3. Reminds me of a close encounter with a red kite intent on retrieving a pheasant from the middle of the lane. Bad timing, I happened to be driving along it when he swooped. My whole windscreen was full of red kite, and I didn’t appreciate the beauty of the movement at all, I was too busy trying to stop and avoid a collision with said bird.

He pulled out of the dive in time, or my brakes are quite good. 🙂

  4. My comment was ackshully prompted by a poor scan of a photocopy of a photocopy I took from the wall of a Coltishall pub many years ago.

  5. Morning all, thanks for the explanation(s), I was about to change Oz’s comment #1 to read buzzard ’till I read further down the page! 🙂

  6. Thanks Soutie.
FYI, the music, which of course was popularised by Kubrick’s film, ‘2001 – A Space Odyssey’, is a fanfare by Richard Strauss called ‘Sunrise’, premiered in 1896.

  7. Yup! “Einleitung, oder Sonnenaufgang” to “Also sprach Zarathustra”
I bet every Charioteer knew that. Hands up those who didn’t. 🙂

It pops up in Trivia Nights quite often.

  8. And of course “Kubrick’s film” was based on a story by Arthur C Clarke, and co-written with him.

    That’s a frequent triv question, too. 🙂
