I have found the idea behind the current photo competition quite inspiring, so although this isn’t an entry I thought I’d share.
We had a trip to the Oxford Botanic Gardens on Sunday:
This is a black pine: a detail of the trunk formation
bearing in mind Ara’s parameters I zoomed in closer
I may not have noticed the holly growing in the bifurcation if I hadn’t been looking out for interesting detail. Back at home I cropped even closer

Them there gardens are special; manicured and full of small surprises.
I took this pic in Spain 2009. The tree is not native to Spain but rather Argentina. It is not as old as it looks either, probably only forty years old. A caption could easily be ‘Father & Child.’
Lovely image!
Hello Nym.
I’m pleased that the competition inspired you to look more closely at your photos. Your pictures of the black pine and close ups are an excellent example of interesting “detail”.
🙂
All thanks to you 🙂
