Any more photographs? Details and some extremely good entries can be found here.
Just to be trendy, and to see how easy/difficult it is; I am including a poll, so you may, if you wish, vote for your favourite.
Judge’s decision, however, is final !
8pm GMT on Ist of February 2011 is the deadline! You may want to defer voting until the competition closes, just in case there is a stunning last minute entry.
Hello, Boadicea!
Looks good! I’ve still got a few hours – and one idea!
Excellent, Boadicea.
You hopefully have a bit of time before the cyclone arrives!
I’ve added Rick’s entry to the poll, so I can cope with last minute entries, Boadicea.
I will understand though, if you have more pressing things to do, like worrying!
No point in worrying, Araminta. If it looks like coming near we’ll batten down whatever we can – and hope… 🙂
Would it be worth hiding the results until the voting is over?
Hi Sipu.
I take your point but it’s only to see what others think.
I’ll make the decision when all the entries are in.
Araminta – I think Sipu’s suggestion is worthwhile considering!
Hi CWJ, and Sipu.
I’ve switched off the results for now. BUT, I did request that no one voted until the competition closes. 😦
One interesting thing I’ve just discovered is that if you edit the poll, it seems that you have to save it after each edit!
I added Sipu and Boadicea and switched off the results all at the same time and it wouldn’t update!
I disagree – if I can’t see the voting as we go along, I find little reason for having a poll in the first place. What’s wrong with it the way it was originally set? What do CWJ and Sipu have against it? What harm does it do? I can’t see any point in hiding the running totals. 😦
Hi Bearsy,
I’m not sure either, the only reason I can think of it that it could influence my decision, but since I can see the results anyway, that’s not really a good reason.
It’s not intended to be taken seriously, but I think it’s interesting to see how others feel about the entries. It may or may not confirm my view.
Perhaps we should do a poll and vote on it? 😉
I’ll look at the instructions for putting a poll in a comment.
Hmm. Stamps large paw, growls quietly and slopes off to back of cave. 😎
Since I agree with you, and it’s now two for and two against, I’ll show the results again. 🙂
Oh well! I was going to suggest (light heartedly!) a poll about the poll…
Actually – it’s three to two, since I like to look at the results too. Can’t see the point of the thing otherwise 🙂
Thanks, Boadicea.
I haven’t quite sussed out how to put a poll in a comment yet, but the results are now visible again.
Perhaps I should do a poll on do we like polls? 😉
Well that might be an idea!
The site seems to be deader than the dodo at the moment…
I’m not sure if a poll in a comment would work. They do work in sidebar widgets …
Hang on, let me try –
Nope – they don’t! 😀
I’m just discovering the same thing, Bearsy. 😦
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/polldaddy/
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/polldaddy/faq/
Perhaps we need one of these? Or are they not applicable to WordPress.com sites?
Oops, my poll seems to have gone a bit wrong.
I haven’t done anything to it, honest! 😦
The deadline has passed for entries, but please feel free to vote.
I’ll post the results tomorrow. I’m out for most of the day, but I’ll try to do it before I set off.
