OK, some of you will have been through this before with me – but this year I’m doing a slightly different challenge. Instead of pledging to swim either 100 or 200 lengths on a given day in a given pool I’m pledging to swim regularly from end of January to 8th April to see how many lengths I can accumulate.
Swimathon is an annual fund-raising event, held in the UK across many participating pools, and the chosen charity this year is Marie Curie Cancer Care , a charity which provides end of life care in the patient’s own home.
In previous years I have swum both the 100 length challenge (2.5k) and the 200 length challenge (5k) and it is a brilliant way to get fit, while raising money for a brilliant cause.
I have pledged to swim 1000 lengths, 25 km.
By choosing to do the ‘Just Swim’ version this year I hope to make swimming part of my every day timetable (well a couple of times a week anyway) and re-establish it as a regular activity.Watch this space!
Excellent idea and if it keeps you fit and you raise money for a very worthwhile charity then the best of luck to you, Nym.
Thanks, Ara. The choice of charity is an important consideration here.
