CLT20 – we like it

St. George's Park, nets and 'B' Field

It’s crunch time in the competition, our local lads have performed magnificently to qualify for today’s semi-final against the Aussie outfit from Adelaide up in Pretoria.

Guess what’s at stake?

Warriors wicketkeepr/batsmen Mark Boucher 'likes it'

Having more than doubled their US$ 200,000 appearance fee to a cool $500,000 by qualifying for the semis this will be more than doubled again should they reach the final.

It’s going to be a cracker of a game the Australian T20 champions up against ours.

Their is already much talk in the press about lucrative IPL contracts for some of our local players, our young captain Davey Jacobs has been one of the stars of the tournament, if anybody deserves a life changing opportunity I could think of no one more deserving.

All to play for then, today’s winners will play the Chennai Super Kings in tomorrow’s final to be held at The Wanderers, Johannesburg.

Today’s match starts at 5:30pm our time, good luck to both of them.

  1. What a tense match, for the record and all those of you who might just be slightly interested our E.P. Warriors won!

Quite convincingly in the end, they now move on to tomorrow’s final and a guaranteed purse of $1.3 million (the winning team tomorrow collect the trophy and a cool $2.7 million!)

I’ll be glued to my set.

    🙂

  2. Thank you, thank you, thank you Ara, my poor post spent over 12 hours without a single comment (sob!), thank you 🙂

Yes it’s about cricket, I did think that certain words like, batsman, wicketkeeper, nets might give the game away, even the ‘tag’ perhaps (you know, that little blue bit that says ‘cricket‘)
    😉

  3. Howzit Bearsy, I’m of the opinion that there should be more tournaments of this nature (perhaps similar to rugby’s Super 14)

It’s been a pleasure watching players we don’t normally get to see or hear about, those State / Provincial sportsmen that don’t make the national teams. Michael Klinger has been a joy to watch and listen to, other Aussies that come to mind include Daniel Harris, Daniel Christian, Aaron Finch and John Hastings to mention but a few. It would great exposure and experience for the ‘non-test squad’ cricketers.
