Bone of Contention

Bone of Contention or in this case it’s the Hide Chew of Contention. Meg buried this hide chew apparently some time ago because a shrub had since grown over it. A couple of days ago she dug it up and has been parading it around the place growling at anybody and particularly Ollie attempting to relieve her of it.

At least your dog had the sense to bury a chew bone. One of mine, the thick JR boy, would try and bury a bonio the other day in the new blueberries!
I had to try and explain to him that such behaviour would necessitate me having to bury him too. Alas, the concept escaped him!

Abby has chunks of deer antlers to chew, but we don’t let her take them in the garden. She’s not bothered if we take them away, but we’ve always taken them from her since she was a small pup, so she’s used to it. We also raw chicken wings and carcasses – she just crunches them up and eats them so there is nothing left to bury.

Female-type-parent’s dog is a Chihuahua-Dachshund mix. Her partner’s dog is a wolf/malamute/Staffie mix. Deranged Chihuahua mix steals the wolf’s bones at any given opportunity.Since he’s such a tenacious little s**t he actually manages quite often!

We are dogsitting daughter’s dachshund, 13, who deigns to visit us now and then on the promise of woodland scents and the chance to practice hunting skills. At night however she cowers in her bed in case she is asked to brave the darkness.

Meg is still guarding the hide chew although it’s now half the size.
