The Truth is Out There

We’re working our way through the X Files and up to series 2 so far. It really is an exceptional series well filmed and well acted with great plots (albeit a bit of tongue in cheek required ). I like the fact that there’s very little bad language, explicit sex or smoking all of which seem to be a requisite for  many of today’s TV series. We’re watching it streamed from Amazon Prime and although in normal mode the picture quality is almost HD. Not bad when you consider it was made from 1993.

Although there’s no explicit sex (or any sexual content at all) there is obviously some kind of relationship between Fox Mulder (John Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) and in its restraint it’s far more erotic than the pornographic rubbish which infests much of todays programming.

Er…..David of that ilk? Yes, also good in the more explicit Californication series – the antidote to the X Files.

HI Jazz, I so agree with you about the excess smoking in some series. I tried to watch Mad Men, but gave up after about 6 episodes because of the constant smoking; that and the gratuitous introduction of a Semitic theme, early on in the series. Despite the fact that there are only 14 million of them, allegedly, they do feature very highly in all aspects of Western cultural offerings, especially those from America.

Sipu, Well they do control Hollywood and much of the US film industry although I think that’s changing now.
