Cornered

Like others here I have wondered ‘whither the Julian Assange affair?’. He has breathed the free oxygen of notoriety with some relish, it appears, but now finds himself in a stuffy box room in Knightsbridge. This BBC piece struck me as informative and refreshingly free of media spin:

Thanks for pointing me to this article. I think it’s about right. Assange (and Ecuador) have boxed themselves in a corner. Not always a good idea!

Given that he is writing for the BBC, he should have spelled practise correctly!

Pedantry aside, I detect an odour of rats emanating from Stockholm, London, Quito and Washington. I do not think any country or individual is going to emerge from this smelling of roses.

Are we forgetting why Assange is wanted in Sweden?

Well, I haven’t forgotten why he is wanted in Sweden, Bravo, and in my opinion that should be his next destination. I have no idea if he is guilty but he should return for questioning.

Yes, Arrers. I don’t think Sweden’s actions have been frivolous and Assange needs to respond appropriately.
