On the canal – holiday poem

On the Canal

The pondskaters’ erratic
flick-flack glide disrupts
like light shower dimples

while the flash of a fish
spreads ripples through
inverted sunset clouds.

Over fragile corrugations
the skaters slip-slide
sideways to the dark bank

as night breathes in
the fading light refracted
like brush strokes.

    Beautifully done, Nym. Lovely alliteration.

I toyed with the idea of writing about a canal holiday too.

I like it. We, too, had more than one canal holiday, but I would have had to add a verse describing how my daughter fell in!

    thanks Ara.

Four-eyed EG, we explained that the French canal boats flush all the effluent into the water and that deterred potential fallers quite effectively!
