Ah, the memories!

I see that South Africa will be playing England in the 2nd test on 2nd August. And may it be an interesting game!

In 1977 I was there – at Headingley, that is, to see Geoffey Boycott get his 100th 100.

Here it is, if you want to join me down Memory Lane.

Lucky you, Janus. I wish it was me that saw Boycott get his 100th 100. (Great little radio commentary in the link, by the way)

No marks for you, though (0/0) for that appalling second sentence. :-)

Hello, TR! You got the gist though? ;-) And where are the other cricket fans when you need them?

Watching Australia struggling in the ODI :-)

One thing with Sir Geoffrey, you could depend on him to stay in when you needed someone to anchor an innings.

Oops – a little finger trouble there, sorry pardon.

One of my memories of the occasion is of a presumably male ice-cream seller with distinctly unmasculine dress, body language and speech. During one of those silences that ask to be broken, a broad Yorkshire voice shouted, “Ayoop, luv. Are yer a fella or wha’?”

England have just knocked off the runs for 8 wickets to win the latest ODI in Durham.
